To
live and draw in L.A.
Now
living in Los Angeles with former navy SEAL Nick Reno, artist Perry
Foster comes to the rescue of elderly and eccentric Horace Daly, the
legendary film star of such horror classics as Why Won't You Die, My
Darling?
Horace
owns the famous, but now run-down, Hollywood hotel Angels Rest,
rumored to be haunted. But as far as Perry can tell, the scariest
thing about Angels Rest is the cast of crazy tenants--one of whom
seems determined to bring down the final curtain on Horace--and
anyone else who gets in the way.

The
Ghost Wore Yellow Socks
by Josh Lanyon
His
romantic weekend in ruins, shy twenty-something artist Perry Foster
learns that things can always get worse when he returns home from San
Francisco to find a dead body in his bathtub. A dead body in a very
ugly sportscoat -- and matching socks. The dead man is a stranger to
Perry, but that's not much of a comfort; how did a strange dead man
get in a locked flat at the isolated Alton Estate in the wilds of the
"Northeast Kingdom" of Vermont? Perry turns to help from
"tall, dark and hostile" former navy SEAL Nick Reno -- but
is Reno all that he seems?

Interview with Josh Lanyon
What kind of world
ruler would you be?
Impatient but usually fair-minded.
Describe yourself in 5
words or less!
Impatient but usually—oh wait.
What do you do to
unwind and relax?
Huh? Is that a thing? Do writers get to do that? Seriously, I
like to garden, I like to read (usually vintage mysteries), I like to swim in
the summer and take long walks in the winter, and I like to spend hours
researching new projects. That last one sounds like work, but I actually find
research—in-depth research—very relaxing. It’s one of the most fun parts of any
new project.
Which of your novels can you imagine made into
a movie?
I think any of the FBI-centered series books would make
entertaining movies. They’re full of action but they’re very romantic too—and
it would be a refreshing change to see LGBTQ characters starring in action
films. But also I think Snowball in Hell,
which is a 1940s noir mystery-romance, would make a terrific film—if it had
enough of a budget to do it right.
What’s up next?
Next up is The
Monuments Men Murders, the fourth installment of The Art of Murder series.
I’m also beginning a new trilogy called Bedknobs & Broomsticks which is
kind of a gay McMillan and Wife meets Bewitched. The first book is titled Mainly by Moonlight. I’m very excited
about both those projects.
