Delia Brendan Promises to Keep

Blurb:
Dandelion Police Sergeant Nina Markov has never been happier since meeting FBI Special Agent Michael Hanson. However, a fairy tale ending for the pair doesn’t seem to be in the cards, as time is running out in her quest to find Russian mobster, Pavel Ivanovich—the man who has stolen a priceless family heirloom.

When Nina’s carefully lain trap for him catches his underling instead, she realizes that her only chance is to make him fall in love with her and then use him to reach Pavel.

For a recipe this convoluted, Nina is going to need the assistance of cupcake baker and misguided matchmaker, Pearl Waterman.

In the second book of the Dandelion Romantic Mystery series, Nina has to decide how far she’ll go to keep her promises, retrieve the last connection to her family, and try not to lose the only man she’s ever loved in the process.

Small towns have the benefit of people pretty much knowing each other, and the difficulties of pretty much everyone knowing everyone else's business. It becomes a challenge to keep a secret.
Nina Markov had good reason to keep secrets. Life and death reasons and past life secrets.

This is an adventurous tale of stolen jewels, the Russian mob, a kidnapping and secret loves.
Not well kept secrets, for as mentioned, this is a very small town. You can't hide much here;
as a murder discovers when he thinks he has found an isolated place to dump a body.
If only the snow had arrived sooner.

What is really happening at the old mushroom farm? Is there magic in that air?

This series is on the fringe of cozy, fitting into a crime mystery noir.
It is an enjoyable read with quirky characters.

I did receive an ecopy as part of a blog tour. The review is my own.
