Shelf Life Audiobook Tour

Where to buy the audiobook:       Audible

Publishing: An industry of out-of-control of egos, unrealistic expectations, andbooks with the shelf life of milk. This is Kate’s world, but for how long?

When one of Kate Mitchell’s star authors is carted away in handcuffs, she thinks it’s only the beginning of her troubles. As her world crumbles around her, Kate desperately looks for anyone to hold on to but finds that happy endings are truly works of fiction. When her career and love affair hit their expiration dates, Kate sets off on a new adventure....

Starting over in California is easy, but Kate soon learns that leaving her old life behind isn’t. Nicholas Lavigne is eager to help her forget, but two things still own her heart: the dream of discovering the next great American novel and MacDermott Ellis. As Kate tries to rebuild her life, she finds a surprising gift that reboots her career in a new and unexpected direction. Suddenly her name becomes synonymous with one of the biggest best sellers publishing has seen in ages, and she's welcomed back with open arms. At the height of her success, the ghosts of her past come back to remind her of the world she'd been trying to forget and the man who never let go of her heart. Behind the book there’s always more to the story.

I loved the first book in this series and eagerly dove into book two.Lisa Cordilione  does a magnificent job of narration.
She puts such energy and emotion into the words.
Kate and Mac can still not figure out how to make things work together,
but they can't stay away from each other either.
Mac is one of those characters you can love and hate in the same paragraph.
There are times you'll want to slap Kate, too. I know her best friend thinks about it.
Kate decides to make that much needed break and try life in California.
Do you remember that Nick lives in California? Dear, sweet, oh-so-patient Nick, who is also so easy to look at, intelligent and wealthy.

This series offers a look into the publishing industry that I had not seen before.
I say again that I could easily see this as a continuing television drama.
Whenever things look like they could be getting better, there is another bump in the road.

What will happen next?
Christina George has worked in publishing for twenty years (give or take). Here’s what this book isn't. It’s not a slam against publishing (though it is broken) and it’s not a slam against authors (though some of them are crazy). This book is not autobiographical though many of the stories are true. No you won’t know which ones, cause it’s more fun to guess, right? George continues to work in publicity and helps authors because at the end of the day she does love books, she loves publishing, and she loves authors. She hopes you’ll enjoy this romp through Kate’s world as much as she enjoyed creating it.

Book 1: Emily's Vow

Book 2: Amy's Choice

I strongly suggest you read this series in order; not only because the books follow one another with no lapse of time, but because you will want to get to know the background and personalities of each of these strong female friends. This trilogy is an adventurous exploration of life in an occupied seaside city during the final months of the Revolutionary War.

It is a historical romance and also a mystery.
The human interest elements will make you examine your own thinking and opinions. A story of challenges, both physical and spiritual,
conflicting beliefs and changing times.

Along with the romantic aspects of the books, much is told about life during time of war. Again it relates to financial and familial along with political and the dangers inherent to the close proximity of conflicting military services. Persons of the upper class became spies since no one expected it of them. Much of this happens in the first two books of this 5 star trilogy.

This third book focuses on Samantha and her quickly changing situation.
Her skills as a healer are being criticized. A modern doctor has arrived in the city. Her best friends have gotten betrothed. Her parents are loyalists and likely will leave for England. An unmarried woman can not own property so she will lose her healing garden. How is Samantha to survive and move forward?
The writing is wonderful. The storyline is compelling.
The danger will keep you apprehensive until the very end.
The female characters are intelligent, creative, loyal and strong.

I did receive this series as part of a blog tour but the reviews and reading enjoyment are my own pleasure and opinions.
