The Duke's Bedeviled Bride by Nina Mason (erotic content)

Today, we are featuring The Duke's Bedeviled Bride, book two in the erotic historic Royal Pains series by Nina Mason. The series, set in Scotland and England during the Restoration period, is available in e-book or paperback.

Here's the blurb:

The tawdry tale of the Duke and Duchess of Dunwoody continues?

Maggie Armstrong, the long-lost illegitimate daughter of the heir presumptive to the throne, is bedeviled by her husband's limited definition of fidelity. After observing him in a m?nage ? trois at the court of King Charles II, she is determined to bring him around to her way of thinking?by any means necessary.

Robert doesn?t mind being punished for his transgressions. Rather, he enjoys being whipped, especially by his beloved bride. Unfortunately, her heart might not belong to him alone. His younger brother, who he?d sent abroad to clear the way for himself, is coming home sooner than expected, and Maggie?s feelings for Hugh may not be as dead as her husband had hoped.

Both duke and duchess soon learn, to their peril, Hugh Armstrong is not the honorable man they?d been led to believe. Insanely jealous of his brother?s situation, Hugh will stop at nothing to strip Robert of all he holds dear?including his life.

But the real danger for Robert and Maggie is not the villainous Marquess, but the growing friction betwixt Catholics and Protestants in Restoration Era Great Britain.

Can their love survive the trials that await them?

Here's the trailer:

Here's a little about the author:

Nina Mason, author
Nina Mason is a hopeful romantic with strong affinities for history, mythology, and the metaphysical. She strives to write the same kind of books she loves to read: those that entertain, edify, educate, and enlighten.

She is the author of The Queen of Swords, a darkly erotic Scottish paranormal romance/urban fantasy; The Tin Man, a political thriller; Devil in Duke's Clothing, an erotic historical set in 1680 Scotland; The Duke's Bedeviled Bride, the follow-up to Devil in Duke's Clothing; Starry Knight, the first book in a new PNR/UF series; and Dark and Stormy Knight, book two in The Knights of Avalon series.

Born and raised in Orange County, California, Ms. Mason currently lives in Woodstock, Georgia.

Here where you can find Nina on social media:

An eye opening treatise on the political, religious and social customs of the times told as a steamy, suspense filled tale of familial deceit. Impeccably phrased, this series is as historically accurate as possible for a work of heart pounding fiction.
This novel does stand alone but you won't want to miss what comes next and will appreciate the story most if you read the series in order, to appreciate the characters growth.

When Robert first saw Maggie, his sister's companion, at the tender age of 12, he saw untapped potential in his ward. Little did he know how well suited she would be to his instructions.
Should he fear the student becoming the master? Or Mistress Margaret, to be exact.
As this book opens, the Duchess, now married to Robert, is still peeved over what she considers to be his infidelity. She is considering the many ways to make him pay for his insubordinate and deceitful behaviors. Marriage is taking some adjustment and education. They do not view everything exactly the same. As the couple learns about give and take, the reader also receives an education, both in history and personal techniques.

Robert's brother, Hugh, the marquis, had been sent away when the duke feared attraction between Hugh and Maggie would interfere with his own plans to claim her. Now Hugh returns with a French bride, the marchioness, who bears a surprising physical resemblance to his sister in-law. Will jealousy renew the previous attraction? Something is just not right.

With the political and religious turmoil of the times, when Robert must return to court, he has no choice but to leave his young bride at home. Will either of them survive this forced separation?

Adult themes are prevalent in this series but I do not find them merely gratuitous or distasteful. Nina Mason weaves a powerful historical tale that drags the reader willingly into the adventure.
I received this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.
Erotica is not my normal fare but I will read this entire series.
Haven't read book one yet?

Booker - Hate City review

After a life filled with destruction of others and himself, and his body ravaged by disease, there's only one thing left for Javier Calero to do. Leave a legacy that will finally bring meaning to his life—and to the death of an American president more than fifty years ago.

The CEO of a green energy company is murdered behind his million-dollar estate, his neck nearly severed in two. Recruited to aid the widow and find a savage killer, Booker finds himself in the middle of a family train wreck.

Days later, thrust into the crossfire of a deadly sniper, Booker eludes sure death with the uncanny arrival of a young woman who only wants to save her father from harm. But she can't do it without Booker's help.

Joining forces with a Latin spitfire, Booker and his new sidekick, Maggie, embark on a twenty-four-hour quest to hunt down a killer determined to make an indelible mark on history—just like the one that struck down John F. Kennedy a half-century earlier, which launched a cascade of assassination investigations and theories.

BOOKER - Hate City weaves a historic tale of thrills and suspense, examining the justifications of the unjustifiable.

Booker: Streets of Mayhem (Booker #1)
On a cool October afternoon, the majestic blue sky above Dallas is polluted with swells of gray smoke, carrying shattered memories of fifteen people, mostly children, who've just been killed by an explosion on a bus.

A white supremacist group claims responsibility, opening old wounds, turning neighbor against neighbor--fracturing the community. A Southeast Dallas native, Booker T. Adams couldn't be more invested in the city…in the people he'd served for the last seven years as a beat cop for the Dallas Police Department. Without warning, it becomes personal for Booker on so many levels. And as panic grips the city, he must decide how much he's willing to sacrifice to end the chaos.

With his career called into question and his family in the crosshairs of one terrorist act after another, Booker invests every fiber of his being to protect a broken community, and to stop the brutal, senseless slayings.

If he fails, terrorism will reign in the city of Dallas.

Booker: Tap That (Booker #2)
A performance for the ages.

Courtney Johnson brings the house down in the heart of the vibrant Dallas Arts District. Later, shrills pierce the hallways of Wyle Theater when Courtney, a budding Broadway musical star, is found dead, a single bullet to the head.

Driven to find the killer before panic tears apart the arts community and all those who support it, private investigator Booker T. Adams discovers evidence of a professional hit, then uncovers a lovers ' triangle that takes him all the way to the mean streets of Boston.

And then it happens again. Another performer killed, someone Booker had met. Rocked by the shocking murders, performers and patrons alike fear that a serial killer is on the loose, and no one knows when and or where another dead body will show up.

But professional obligations quickly morph into personal vendettas. Running against an unforgiving clock, Booker is forced to solicit the help of a crime boss, The Shark.

With his life threatened at almost every turn, and his heart being put through a meat grinder, Booker taps into every resource at his disposal to stop more than just a killer.

But at what price?

Full of unforgettable characters, bone-chilling suspense and stunning thrills, BOOKER - Tap That is a wild ride that will test even the most fervent reader's quest for a luminous reading experience.

Complicated, dark and twisted. Booker has no idea what he has gotten himself into this time.
You will appreciate this best if you have read the previous books in the series (all 5 star reads) but there is enough disclosed that you will follow along if you pay attention.
WOW - is there some deep stuff to focus on!
When Booker gave up his cop job and opened a P.I. business he didn't expect it to be more dangerous than laying his life on the line daily. He pictured boring stake outs, stale coffee and occasional paperwork. There is never getting away from the paperwork. For that he has the lovely assistant, partner, what-is-her-role Alisa whose talents and skills seem to grow in each novel.

This book has a number of different cases, seemingly with nothing in common, that actually do, in a twisted sort of way, tie back decades to the President Kennedy assassination. As you read you will also find mentions of books, tv shows and events that will spark your memories. Very very complex but oh so good!
I appreciated that we get an inside look into the killer's mind and a look at a way of life that I never want to experience first hand. It was scary enough being there in my mind with this book!

We also see the personal side of Booker, with scenes featuring his daughter, her mother, her mother's new boyfriend... you get the idea. New characters are introduced that I hope we spend more time with in future books in this series. It is not for the feint of heart but well worth the dangerous time invested.
A great twist on the conspiracy theories surrounding JFK's assassination, and leaves enough unanswered questions that you won't want to miss what comes next.

I did receive a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinions.
I hope I am included for an early look at future books.

Book Excerpt:

Suddenly, they heard a loud rustling of bushes and branches snapping downriver not far from where they had set up their makeshift camp.

“What was that?” Savi whispered anxiously. “It couldn’t be Vexel, could it?”

“Quiet.” Rico rebuked her with a hush. He raised the tip of his nearly finished spear.

Again, they heard more noise in the woods. This time they knew it was getting closer.
