Girls' Weekend Review Tour

Title: Girls' Weekend

Author: Cara Sue Achterberg
Release Date: May 3, 2016
Publisher: The Story Plant
Genre: Women's Fiction
Format: Ebook/Paperback

Inside the Book:

Dani, Meg, and Charlotte have bonded over babies, barbeques, and backyards, but when they escape for a girls' weekend away, they can't bring themselves to return to lives that don't seem to fit anymore.

Harried Dani can't explain why she feels so discontented until she meets a young gallery owner who inspires her to rediscover the art that once made her happy.

Dependable Meg faces up to a grief that threatens to swallow her whole and confronts a marriage built on expectations.

Flamboyant Charlotte, frustrated with her stagnated life and marriage, pursues a playboy Irish singer and beachside business opportunities.

All three of these women thought they would be different. None of them thought they'd be facing down forty and still wondering when life starts. What they do when they realize where they're headed is both inspiring and wildly entertaining.

GIRLS' WEEKEND is a fun, yet poignant romp through the universal search of who we are, why we love, and what makes us happy by an author who is quickly emerging as one of our most incisive storytellers.

This is a wonderful book club book. You will want friends to discuss this with and talk about how you would have handled the situations that arise.

The three friends really need a break from their every day lives. The color has faded and doing the same tasks daily, taking care of everybody else's needs and putting their own interests and desires after everyone elses' doesn't leave time or energy to enjoy them. Soon the relationships that mean the most to them begin to feel less exciting and attractive too. I bet most of you can relate. I found myself in each of the women's lives. I even found myself a bit put out when one of the ladies took off by herself in a car and didn't bother to tell the others where she was going or when she'd be back. That tells you that I also feel obligations to please others and make accomodations to their schedules!

When the weekend turned into a longer time, I was both intrigued and feeling a little uncomfortable. Would the decisions each made limit the choices they would find in the days to come?

This is a wonderful book to read and also to stimulate thoughts about how ones own life has become stale and predictable. What should you do about it

Cover Reveal: This Is Me by C.E. Wilson

Hello everyone!  Welcome to the Cover Reveal for
This Is Me by C.E. Wilson!

A-SIST Anthropomorphic Sentient Individualized Servile uniT
Rogan is a robot. More specifically, he is an Asist – a personalized humanoid servant that provides protection, assistance, and companionship for a lonely young woman living on her own in the city.

Chloe is trying to get her big break, singing at bars and clubs all over the city at night while she pays the bills as a substitute teacher during the day. Ever since she activated him many months ago, Rogan has been her beautiful, dependable, obedient, dead-eyed security blanket. One morning she is shocked when he disobeys a direct command in an attempt to please her and his dull artificial eyes flash a hint of something new.

Is this the result of the adaptive Asist servility programming or is Rogan actually thinking? Can a robot think? Can a robot feel?

As Chloe struggles with these thoughts she is blindsided by the singular Niven Adams, a handsome, confident man with the voice of an angel who is everything she’s ever wanted in a boyfriend. He’s the perfect guy for her, except for one problem. Niven doesn’t approve of Asists and takes an immediate dislike to Rogan.

As Niven charms his way deeper and deeper into Chloe’s heart, Rogan tries to convince her that he is more than a mass-produced disposable servant. With Rogan doing everything in his power to prove that his thoughts and feelings are real and Niven trying to persuade her to abandon her robot and have a normal human relationship, Chloe is trapped between the two things that mean the most to her.

Does she embrace her relationship with the blond newcomer, or face that her Asist’s feelings may be more than features of his programming? What really makes a person a person? Is it a ticking muscle inside their chest, or is it something more?
