When Professor Molly attends Mahina State University's exclusive donor dinner, she doesn't expect to have to share a table with the insufferable Stephen Park. Turns out it's one thing to invite your toxic ex-boyfriend to drop dead...it's quite another when he takes you up on it.

Did you ever wonder about your college professors' life outside the walls of academia? Then this is the series for you, although I am not sure how similar Professor Molly Barda and friends (co-workers) are to other academicians. (Professor Molly would know if the proper term would be academics.)
Although a language expert by education, she is the department head of the business courses, and a new mother. While she should be enjoying her summer time off and bonding with her new baby (possibly nick-named Frankie) Molly has a difficult time saying no to extra work. She justifies it as being the lesser of evils or bad choices.
Speaking of bad choices and evil, while attending a faculty and donor dinner, Molly and husband Donnie are seated with Stephen Park, a person who has made some individual choices, not always good choices, and with whom Molly had a brief romantic relationship, FAR in her past. Stephen, however, continues to complicate Molly's life. This time, his final time, being the worst way.

When a dead body drops at Molly's feet and the police are repeatedly at her door and in her face, would anyone expect Molly not to do a bit of looking around? It does help to have adventurous friends who know how to pick locks. Should I also mention, there is a possibility that the location of this death may be haunted? It is, after all, a former hospital and asylum but the college got it for a real steal. Perhaps there will be more secrets about its history revealed as this series continues.

Molly and Emma are two of my favorite characters. Enough so that I am very worried about Emma's increased alcohol consumption. The books in this series are quick paced, creative and funny. If you ever have a chance to listen to them in audio form, narrated by Nicole Gose, jump at the opportunity. Her voice will remain with you as you read.
I wasn't sure I liked Donnie for Molly but he is doing a wonderful job as a father, this time around.

Take a trip to the island and discover life outside the educational walls.

About the Author

Like Professor Molly, Frankie Bow teaches at a public university. Unlike her protagonist, she is blessed with delightful students, sane colleagues, and a perfectly nice office chair. She believes if life isn’t fair, at least it can be entertaining.
In addition to writing murder mysteries, she publishes in scholarly journals under her real name. Her experience with academic publishing has taught her to take nothing personally.
