Evil has awoken in Asheville, North Carolina, and Terra Rowan must prepare the Ladies of the Biltmore Society for battle. With her familiar, Pixel, a crooked leg fluffy orange cat, and her apprentice Abigail Oakhaven, a stubborn teenage girl with a bloodline dating back to the beginning of time, she begins their journey. The witch hunters have come to the Appalachian Mountains in search of the last witch of Salem. The magic of the mountains can no longer protect her and her coven. She must travel to the one place on earth that holds the secret to save mankind – Dark Corner.
Combining elements from different cultures, Appalachian folklore, Celtic legends, Native American mysticism, Dark Corner continues its new witch mythology while staying true to the realm of cozy mystery.
Terra Rowan is a witch trapped between worlds and lost in time.

You will see a lot of reviews for this book beginning with WOW. That is how you feel when you have turned the last page. This is one of those rare books that has the ability to interweave fiction, fantasy and fact, both historical and present day.
Terra is a witch, turned into a cat to save her from the Salem Witch Trials hundreds of years ago.
She is now charged with mentoring a group of elderly Wiccan women as well as training the great granddaughter of her own mentor, a young witch who will grow up to be more powerful than anyone can imagine. That is if Abigail survives to become a mature witch. At just eighteen, she is impulsive and feels much more capable of dealing with magic than she really is. She is impatient to play with her magic and tired of studying.
Abigail spends much of her time around the elderly ladies, so when another girl her age shows up, she decides it is OK to bust loose for a bit. Naturally she can not keep her magic a secret for long. And complications are the only possible result.
Add in story elements worthy of a cozy mystery, with magical elements, and an open minded, though skeptical cop, plus, my favorite character of all, a fluffy orange cat who befriends a butterfly.
There is so much going on and so much to think about, that you will be glued to the page!
I can not wait to see what happens in the next book.
