Cape May, New Jersey, is the site of a big culinary competition—and the knives are out . . .
Poppy McAllister is happy about opening a Jersey Shore B&B—but working in a professional kitchen has always been her real dream. Now it’s coming true, at least briefly, as she teams up with her former fiancée, Tim—and his condescending partner, Gigi—during the high-profile Restaurant Week challenge. Poppy’s specialty is pastries, despite her devotion to a Paleo diet. But if anyone can make glorious gluten-free goodies, it’s Poppy.
Things get heated quickly—especially when some ingredients get switched and Tim’s accused of sabotage. Relatively harmless pranks soon escalate into real hazards, including an exploding deep fryer. And now one of the judges has died after taking a bite of Poppy’s cannoli—making her the chef suspect . . .

Includes Seven Recipes from Poppy’s Kitchen!

Another fun, funny and interesting mystery with Poppy McAllister and friends.
A local, yet cut throat, restaurant competition has come to town. Based on the premise of Iron Chef as well as those Great Bake-Off competitions, each team must create a three course meal from secret ingredients. Sounds difficult enough, doesn't it? Well, these tricky producers have upped the difficulty level and added twists. Someone else has added their own challenges to this competition.
If that is not enough, Poppy finds herself sandwiched between two handsome and attractive men.
Part of the intrigue is who is sabotaging the competition and teams. When someone dies, are all bets off or are the stakes (steaks) even higher?
Among my favorite characters are a mischievous cat with a mind of his own and a "granny" unlike any you've met or dealt with in your own life. (I hope.) I was rolling when Poppy told her Aunt Ginny she could not wear a ballgown. Aunt Ginny went one better.
Will Poppy survive until the end of Restaurant Week? Who else will feel the effects of grudges and a sharp competitive edge?
Laugh your way through this fast paced cozy mystery but watch your back!
