Book Description:

It’s a bittersweet reunion for Mac Faraday when members of his former homicide squad arrive at the Spencer Inn. While it is sweet to attend the wedding of a former colleague’s daughter, it is a bitter reminder that the mother of the bride had been the victim of a double homicide on her own wedding night.

The brutal slaying weighing heavy on his mind, Mac is anxious to explore every possibility for a break in the cold case—even a suggestion from disgraced former detective Louis Gannon that one of their former friends was the killer.

When the investigator is brutally slain, Mac Faraday rips open the cold case with a ruthless determination to reveal which of his friends was a cold-blooded murderer.

A mystery within a mystery, when a cold case impacts present day. Who commits a murder (double homicide) at a gathering of law enforcement personnel? Someone who believes they can get away with it. Logic suggests it must be one of their own kind.
Sixteen years later the killer has still not been caught. The murders are unresolved. Mac Faraday can not forget.
If you have not been introduced to the mind of Lauren Carr, settle in with your attention undivided. You need to focus to detect the clues and keep the relationships in line.
This book delivers all you want in a crime novel and more. Humor keeps it from being over the top dark, but that doesn't mean this will be an easy read or listen.
I love how the relationships between the characters are so well developed. Gnarly, everyone's favorite character has some four legged (or is that sixteen) competition for the dog lovers this time. Don't you know, every politician has secrets in their shadow.

Narrated expertly by Mike Alger, I enjoy listening to this series  (well, and all the spin off series) when I travel and often share with friends.
