Faeries of Saizia by Tonya L. Chaves

Faeries of Saizia
Zäria and Avery, two teenage faeries seeking adventure, get more than they bargained for when they start spying on the elves of Eerie Hollow.

They discover why the elves are making delectable chocolates in the forest only to be captured by their adversary, Thordon who threatens them into taking on a quest. They run into more trouble while crossing through The Perilous Forest when they meet a witch with her own agenda. Their only hope is to locate an ancient faerie sanctuary they’ve only heard of in legend. Secrets are revealed about Zäria’s parents, which leaves her conflicted and forced to make some tough choices. Just when the fae think their troubles are over, the kingdom of Saizia is in danger of being destroyed. Will Zäria and Avery be able to get help on time? How will they defeat the evil Thordon? Inspired by the author’s children, Faeries of Saizia is a unique story that will instill a love for reading, love for nature, and belief in life’s endless possibilities.

Much of this book could be read to young children but as the action escalates it could become too intense for very sensitive readers. Although it contains some romance (and forbidden romance) I think it is suitable for around fifth grade and above.
Adults will not find it too simple or boring.

This is fantasy adventure.

After reading the blurb for this book, my first response was fairies and dragons and chocolate! I am in! The story starts with a special birthday for a male fairy and we meet his best friend, a female who is just a few months older. She has already been given her community assignment, he is to get his on his birthday. As youngsters will do, as soon as they are given true responsibility, they have to go find fun to balance out the time required. What they also find is trouble.

A pact between kingdoms, one that has not been spoken about in decades, is broken, because the fae have not talked about it. Our two young heroes are caught up in a feud, their lives threatened. Secrets revealed. And a poor, harmless dragon the true victim.

This story packs a punch and the ending is quite exciting.
