Far from a domestic goddess, Sarah Blair would rather catch bad guys than slave over a hot stove. But when a dangerous murder boils over in Wheaton, Alabama, catching the killer means leaving her comfort zone . . .

Things are finally looking up for Sarah Blair following her unsavory divorce. Settled into a cozy carriage house with her sassy Siamese cat, RahRah, she has somehow managed to hang on to her modest law firm receptionist job and—if befriending flea-bitten strays at the local animal shelter counts—lead a thriving social life. For once, Sarah almost has it together more than her enterprising twin, Emily, a professional chef whose efforts to open a gourmet restaurant have hit a real dead end.
When the president of the town bank and city council is murdered after icing Emily’s business plans, all eyes are on the one person who left the scene with blood on her hands—the twins sharp-tongued mother, Maybelle. Determined to get her mom off the hook ASAP, Sarah must collect the ingredients of a deadly crime to bring the true culprit to justice. But as neighbors turn against her family, can she pare down the suspects before another victim lands on the chopping block?
Includes quick and easy recipes!

Sarah Blair – Two Bites Too Many – Debra H. Goldstein

My name is Sarah Blair. I married Bill, the rat, at when I was eighteen. Now, I’m twenty-eight, divorced, working as a law firm receptionist, and living in Wheaton, Alabama with my chocolate pointe Siamese cat, RahRah. RahRah is the only thing I got out of our divorce. Although I knew starting over would be difficult, I never expected Bill’s bimbo to try take RahRah away from me or for my twin sister, Emily, a gourmet chef, to be accused of killing Bill with a taste of her award-winning rhubarb pie.

With the help of family and friends, things were finally looking up for all of us until the bank recently turned down Emily’s request for a loan to rebuild her restaurant. Don’t ask. You can imagine it didn’t sit well with Emily, but when our mother, Maybelle, as she likes to be called, got involved, I knew the bank president was in for it. I didn’t think he’d end up dead, with mother, I mean Maybelle, standing behind him with his blood on her hands.

I’m not much of a detective, but I can assure you I’ll leave no stone unturned trying to find out who really killed him. My mother may be sharp-tongued and opinionated, but she’s mine and I don’t think she is a murderer.
Hopefully my investigative techniques are better than my culinary skills. Let’s just say I’m a cook of convenience. To me, cooking from scratch is scarier than murder. My best dishes are restaurant take-out or the recipes I make from already prepared items. People may be being polite, but they seem to like when I serve my Stouffer’s spinach pie, Jell-O in a Can or Catnip Wine Spritzers.
I have no idea why I fall apart at the idea of cooking. Whether it’s taking Emily’s place at a food expo, putting out snacks for a meeting, or thinking about doing more in a kitchen than filling RahRah’s food bowl, I break out in a cold sweat. Luckily, most of the time I need something cooked for company, Emily helps me out. I pity my guests when she doesn’t.

The person I pity the most when it comes to my limited skills is my boss, Harlan Endicott. He’s been a saint with some of the mix-ups my typing and filing have created in his law office. I’m may not be improving in the kitchen, but at least I’m somewhat better at hiding my mistakes from him.

Tell me, are you more comfortable in the kitchen, the office, or strategically planning a murder?
Know any easy recipes for any of these activities?
