A Christmas Hamster by Stephanie Dagg

A Christmas Hamster

Cam’s career and romantic prospects take a nose dive once she becomes guardian to her young nephew. She leaves a bustling Dutch city to move to a small, dull country town in England, and where once she restored magnificent old paintings to their former glory, now she operates the paint-mixing machine at a soulless hardware store. As much as she adores little Rowan, life has lost some of its sparkle.

However, a handsome and charming customer causes her heart to flutter once more. Fate, alas, seems determined to hamper any possibility of them getting together. So what chance does a tiny, naughty hamster have of bringing happiness this Christmas?
This is a festive, light-hearted and uplifting romcom novella.

Told through the eyes and antics of not only the adorable hamster for whom this romantic comedy is named but also from the point of view of a very observant and at times judgmental feline this is a holiday romance you will want to read yearly.
OK, it is not entirely told from the ground floor height of the furry creatures stirring.
Cam (not her real name) puts her life and dreams on hold after her sister, Rowan`s ``silly mummy`` dies an unfortunate and premature death. Cam is the sort who can not stop herself from doing favors for others and getting involved in charitable works and good causes. Thus one room of her house has turned into a mini zoo of sorts.
She has no time for a personal life outside of mommy and me type activities and fund raising for her usual and regular causes. Until one day when a stranger walks into the paint department where she works. Their eyes meet... and well, she never expects to see him again. Especially after the store burns down.
How does Cam stay so upbeat and hopeful? At least now she has some time on her hands to pursue, well... I don`t want to give much away. Besides, any free time she thinks she has, her tiniest new companion attempts to fill with his games of escape and terrorize the cat.
Rowan is adorable and the other secondary characters add interest. You will have fun getting to know them all as Cam and the mysterious stranger cross paths with near misses.
Will they ever look into each others eyes and have a meaningful conversation?

You will have to read for yourself and find out!

Author Bio –

I'm an English expat living in France, having moved here with my family in 2006 after fourteen years as an expat in Ireland. Taking on seventy-five acres with three lakes, two hovels and one cathedral-sized barn, not to mention an ever increasing menagerie, makes for exciting times. The current array of animals ranges from alpacas to zebra finches, with most letters of the alphabet represented. And of course there are hamsters!
I'm a traditionally-published author of many children's books, and have been self-publishing fiction and non-fiction for adults for the last seven years. I combine freelance work as an editor with running carp fishing lakes with husband Chris. When time allows I enjoy cycling, geocaching, knitting and gardening.
