The Cottage on Wildflower Lane by Liz Davies

The Cottage on Wildflower Lane

Esther's life isn’t perfect (whose is?) – but she’s happy enough living in her little flat with her boyfriend, Josh.

But that’s about to change.

Bored out of her mind in work, she wishes that something, anything, would happen to liven her life up.

Unfortunately, her wish comes true when Josh calls her from the airport to tell her he’s going to work in a bar in Spain, and she’s not invited, Esther is devastated, and her unhappiness is compounded when she discovers she can actually view the bar via a webcam link and watch him chatting up other girls.

But when she inadvertently clicks on a link to another webcam which shows a pretty cottage and the rather hunky man who lives in it, her interest is piqued and she wishes she could get to know him.

Wishes don’t really come true, though – do they...?

Funny and emotional, this will make you take a second (or third) look at your own life and the people you meet. If I wasn't paranoid about porch cameras before this, you should be in my head now!

Esther is bored out of her mind at work but temp jobbing has been what she knows and does. To stay in one job for a long period of time would be so much worse, right?  Until the day her oft traveling (without her) boyfriend calls her at work and tells her he is never coming back.

Kit and Nancy were not happy in their marriage. They wanted other things from life. She decided she did not want HIM either but she would settle for at least half of their money, and the house he worked hard to restore, and the business he and his brother built together.  Will Kit be able to stand up to her and fight for what he has worked so hard to build? Will his heart ever be strong enough to open to someone else?
Before we get to the romance we are treated to a remarkable set-up. We see how people can sink seemingly to thebottom of their emotional depths and have to figure out how to breathe again, how to understand what they want from life for themselves when their partners bail and plans evaporate.

While I admit I have been fascinated by webcams of nature, watch chicks and eaglets in a nest or the live birth of a zoo giraffe, it never occurred to me before this to look online for live webcams at places where girls (and others) go wild, I am now curious about the stories that could be made up by observers.

Liz Davies has a gift for taking the possibilities into an entertaining direction.

Liz Davies writes feel-good, light-hearted stories with a hefty dose of romance, a smattering of humour, and a great deal of love.
She’s married to her best friend, has one grown-up daughter, and when she isn’t scribbling away in the notepad she carries with her everywhere (just in case inspiration strikes), you’ll find her searching for that perfect pair of shoes. She loves to cook but isn’t very good at it, and loves to eat - she’s much better at that! Liz also enjoys walking (preferably on the flat), cycling (also on the flat), and lots of sitting around in the garden on warm, sunny days.
She currently lives with her family in Wales, but would ideally love to buy a camper can and travel the world in it.
