Book Description:

As a very shy, meek, and insecure little girl, Diane Mullins grew up the youngest of seven children in an abusive family. Never shown or taught how to love or be loved, Diane grew up with no self-confidence or self-esteem. Who knew that it would take a near-fatal accident to help her find her way to self-love and spiritual freedom? In Dying to Belong, Diane shares her story that begins at the scene of a body- and spirit-crushing ATV accident. Forced to ride out of the wilderness area herself, she arrived at the hospital to discover broken bones, ruptured organs, and a punctured lung. She was literally on the doorstep of death. During the excruciating process of physical healing, Diane began exploring a spiritual journey that led to loving, accepting, and respecting herself. Diane learned the empowering lesson that by changing her thoughts and feelings, she has been able to live a life of freedom from negativity and pain.

I found this book to be very interesting. It comes across as the honest disclosure of a woman who had a major wake-up call in life.
We have all had them -- wake up calls.
Some we give notice to, others we ignore.

When Diane was the victim of a terrible and tragic accident, she had no choice but to decide for herself if she wanted to live.
As she recuperated, she had more decisions to make.
Was she going to try and get back to life as it was before her accident or was it time to WAKE UP and make changes.
Was her life spared because she had a reason to go on living?

Yes, she was a mother. She had a good job and a decent relationship with a man she felt she could love. But was there a larger purpose to her life?

This is the story of Diane's reawakening and coming to terms with her past.
This is the story of Diane discovering power she had all her life, and how she was the one standing in her own way.

Full of resources for further reading, listening and watching, Diane shares how she awakened to these lessons. She shares her fears and her determination. Her goal is to make the reader aware that they also have power to change their life experience.
