The theme is acceptance and learning to embrace differences.
From the cover, with its very Seussian overtones, to the vibrant and bold images on each page between the covers, this is an energy filled (and overflowing) book.

For years this town has gotten along doing things the same way, thinking the same thoughts,
Suddenly a new family moves in and sees life differently. They enjoy different songs and sounds and colors. The central, staid members of the town who believe all should be done as it has always been done try to tell the new family that they should be just like them.
Then they try to make them follow the same old rules.
The new family does not fight back. They just continue being themselves.

A good lesson for each of us.

Energy filled and fun jumps 0ff the pages!

1. Ed Damiano was born in Newark, New Jersey, just thirty minutes from Manhattan. Every year, Ed takes his family to enjoy Christmas in the city. Visiting the tree at Rockefeller Center was always the highlight of the trip. Influenced by his mother who was an artist, he enjoys photography, writing, and spending time with family. The Christmas Blanket was his first children's book.
The Red Fence came about because of an experience I had helping my daughter with the renovation of her home.  We decided to put up a fence and it created a firestorm in the community. The neighbors all came to a meeting with the town to express their opinion that their town was not a town of fences.  I took that experience and imagined a town that disliked a fence that wasn’t the same as theirs. Hence, the Red Fence

2. I really didn’t pick a genre. It just happened. I have a vivid imagination…  I felt that some of my personal experiences would be best expressed, and a positive message could be sent as a children’s story.

3. I like to read books about history, especially regarding WW II espionage. I also read biographies and motivational books.

4.  I don’t do research for books, the stories are imagined and created from real life experiences.

5. Yes. I have written a book that was also published by Mascot called The Christmas Blanket. I have another one in publication with Mascot and one currently being illustrated

6. My next story currently in production is about bullying and the one in illustration about a handicap boy who becomes the superhero of his pee-wee football team

7 My advice to new writers... to paraphrase Field of Dreams, "If it's in you, it will happen."

8. You can find my books on the Mascot website as well as amazon and Indigo sites.

9. If you follow me and buy my books there will always be a positive lesson learned and an enjoyable experience for the whole family.
